The Thursday before Pride week, the Giants held a special annual event, LGBT Night. The game incorporated several different aspects to represent the LGBT community. The game itself started off with the San Francisco Gay/Lesbian freedom band. However prior to the game, people who bought tickets for LGBT night were  invited to a pre-party from 5-7 pm in Seals Plaza. They also received a LGBT-themed Giants drawstring backpack.

LGBT drawstring backpacks were given out for LGBT Night with the Giants.

Many fans bought this special package but attended LGBT night but for various reasons. Some went because it was something new and they had a group of friends going. Others believed it would be a good way to celebrate pride and enjoy themselves. “It is pride week so LGBT Night in a way starts the pride week party and I think it’s a great way to show support for the LGBT community,” said Julia, a Giants fan. The Giants used this event to not only attract more fans and sell more tickets but they also donate a portion of the game night’s proceeds to nonprofits in the LGBT community.
